Remedies for Eczema & Atopic Dermatitis in children and babies
Is your little one scratching? Does he have itchy rash and skin that feels hot to the touch? Your child is probably suffering from eczema. The Aynosens team gives you all the advice you need to treat or prevent this problem from happening again.
Atopic Eczema or Eczema caused by the environment?
Any skin can develop eczema, but did you know that 20% of children under the age of 7 are affected by atopic skin problems?
These chronic reactions are in fact a genetic predisposition to the development of common allergies. Thus, it is possible that an intolerance to a food or a product can cause this problem to recur in your child.
The skin microbiome (various bacteria that grow on the skin!) of the newborn is gradually building up and his or her immunity will soon become stronger. In the meantime, how can we help our little ones to protect themselves from external aggression? What can be done to relieve them?
What causes eczema?
Before buying corticosteroid creams, an examination of the environment is necessary!
It is important to find out whether the red patches appear more after eating certain types of food (milk, sugar, eggs, certain fruits & vegetables – like celery!). In the case of breastfeeding mothers, a temporary pause might be necessary!
Certain types of fabrics, coatings or the use of products on the skin can cause reactions. In this case, it is called contact allergy!
Finally, a lack of vitamin E may contribute to skin problems.
Relieve your child’s eczema
You can do certains things to relieve, reduce or even eradicate eczema. First of all, you may need to change your bathroom habits!
While some experts recommend limiting the number of baths/showers you take per week, we don’t recommend that! Bath time is often a precious ritual for the family. And if you don’t want to miss out on the fun while helping eczema patches to disappear, you need to adapt the cleansing product.
Conventional shower gel strips the skin of its moisture because of the sulphates they contain and their composition is low in moisturizing ingredients. Perfumes or chemicals are often part of a formula with a high allergic risk.
Our children’s cleansing oils gently cleanse and help to preserve the skin’s lipid barrier. They contain Vitamin E (sunflower oil & Tocopherol) to nourish the skin. Thus protected & hydrated, the skin is durably soothed.
It is recommended to apply a moisturizer every morning and evening to end the skincare routine
During eczema crisis, choose loose-fitting clothes made of organic cotton. Avoiding rubbing of clothes will help the skin to fight against inflammation.
Finally, here are our last tips to distract your child who wants to scratch :
• Proudly sing a funny song, he will sing with you! Baby shark doo doo doo doo…
• Keep your child’s hands busy by playing a game!
• Give to your grown-up a rag to help you cleaning those windows you haven’t had time to scrub for a few months (try it! You might be lucky!).
